During a travel to Italy, I urgently felt self-conscious while watching the fashionable Italians strut down the street. Almost every woman was wearing at least two-inch heels and incredible designer clothes, and even the Italian police were wearing exquisite uniforms designed by Armani. It's a good thing I was able to get a crash course on Italian fashion from a wonderful companion of mine.
The first thing to remember is, Italian women do take fashion sincerely, and they spend a plentiful amount of time beautifying themselves, and coordinating the shoes and bags with their perfect outfit for the day. The second thing is shoes -- not just ordinary shoes, but three-inch designer stiletto shoes suitable for the fashion-savvy, but not a good option for a delightful walk along the cobbled streets of Milan. The secret, according to my good companion, is to walk slowly, taking precaution at each step to avoid tripping over. The last reminder she gave me was about the perfect outfit that doesn't show off too much skin, but rather underscores the natural figure of a woman's body. When I looked at myself in the mirror, I became more bold, and that I can blend in with the mod Italian crowd, even for just a few days.
