Warning of Online Hostel Reservation

It was me and my wife's anniversary that's why I had a reserved room for two in Best Western Hotel Ascot Milan to make sure we would have a superb room while we were having a vacation. Before our flight, I checked the reservations specialist once again because I don't want my wife to be disenchanted in case a problem occurred. The receptionist whom I spoke with confirmed the reserved room and assured me that all we had to do was to go directly in the hostel as soon as we arrived.

Upon our arrival in the airport, my long-time acquaintance Gerard together with his family met us and asked us to stay in their house. He said that we should have not made any hostel reservation because their house is large enough to house the two of us. Since we also desire to spend time with his family, me and my wife decided to cancel our reserved room. When I called the hostel office, I found out from the manager himself that there was no reservation made for us in the first place; thus, we didn't have to cancel anything.

Out of disappointment, I just said goodbye to the hotel manager and thought that we're still auspicious that we have Gerard and his family to accommodate us.
