The Gentlemen Of Italy Are Fastened To The Apron Strings Of Their Mothers
I have always heard females say that they look for Italian boyfriends because they are cool and darn pretty. True enough for me, as I have seen ruggedly handsome Italian gentlemen in gazette covers or music videos. Unfortunately, a large chunk of Italian men are considered to be "mammoni," or mama's boy, a rare breed of guys who are still fastened to and dependent on their mothers. This could conceivably be caused by the too-close family ties that spoil boys far into their adulthood. Even after they find favorable, fixed jobs, these mammoni men would still live in their parent's houses just so they can be indulged by their mothers. I'm a fan of parents taking care of their offspring, but we do have to draw the line and help them stand on their own feet, even if it means seeing them wallow in untidy apartments or eating takeout regularly.
For an independent woman, there is nothing more disappointing, or galling, than a guy who depends on mother for regular meals, clean clothing, and even tidying up their room. No matter how virile, sexy, or even wealthy a guy is, a mama's boy is something that you avoid being committed to. Heaven help me if I hear them protest that my spaghetti isn't as scrumptious as mama's.
